Steve Spurrier definitely sounds like a sore loser after Tennessee's win against Florida

Steve Spurrier hasn't been the head coach at Florida since 2001, but if there's one thing the Head Ball Coach still can't stand, it's losing to the Tennessee Vols.

Unfortunately for Spurrier, that's exactly what happened this past weekend. Tennessee squeaked out a 23-17 overtime against the Gators, giving the Vols their second win against Florida in the last three seasons.

On Monday, Spurrier made his weekly appearance on Another Dooley Noted Podcast and he sounded quite peeved that Florida lost to Tennessee, even suggesting that the Gators are "just as good" as the Vols.

"Four times in the red zone and we only got three points. Sometimes when you don't cash in those opportunities, it can come back and bite you," said Spurrier. "Obviously that's what happened the other day. I thought -- I mean, we're just as good of a team as Tennessee, easily. And it was at their place. We had all kinds of chances, but just didn't get it done."

That's quite the comment from Spurrier. I don't know if anyone outside of Gainesville thinks that Florida is "easily" as good as Tennessee. The Gators are scraping and clawing for everything they can get right now. Tennessee, meanwhile, is playing its worst football of the season and they're still 2-1 in SEC games and 5-1 on the season (Florida is 1-2 in SEC games and 3-3 on the season). The Vols have a lot of room to improve while Florida is seemingly close to its ceiling. This game was close mostly because the Gators caught Tennessee at the right time.

Pat Dooley, the host of Another Dooley Noted Podcast , also made.a quip about Vols quarterback Nico Iamaleava while discussing Florida's defensive performance against Tennessee.

"This (Florida) defense is maybe coming around," said Dooley. "They played really good against UCF -- hell, they made them bench (QB) KJ Jefferson last week because Florida destroyed him. And then obviously gave up 17 points to Tennessee. Now, I don't have a high opinion of their quarterback (Nico) right now, I know he's young, but he can't throw a lick."

Sounds like folks in Florida are having a tough time accepting that loss to Tennessee. I know it's not something they're used to down there, but it doesn't mean it was a fluke.
