Rival AFC coach inadvertently takes a jab at Buffalo Bills' QB Josh Allen over a week after playing him

Personally, I have a ton of respect for Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans. He was a terrific player, and what he has done with the Texans since taking over as head coach before the 2023 NFL season has been remarkable. They went from one of the worst teams in the league to making the playoffs, and are on track to build off that success going forward.

However, Ryans made a comment today that raised my eyebrows.

Ryans referred to Jordan Love as the best quarterback they've seen this year.

    Sir. Josh Allen exists.

There's a difference between having a bad game and being bad. Allen, who is arguably the most dynamic and talented quarterback in the NFL (if not, there's no denying that he's in the top-3), started this season red hot. He was the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September, starting with 9 total touchdowns, no interceptions, a 75% completion percentage, and a 3-0 record.

We know the game against Houston went poorly . Allen had, by far, the worst game of his career, completing only 30% of his passed for 131 passing yards and a touchdown. On the positive side, he didn't turn the ball over, which would have made it exponentially worse.

The downtick in stats over the last two games is something that needs to be fixed in a big way, and a key contributing factor to the lack of success against Houston was wide receiver Khalil Shakir being absent from the game with an ankle injury. There wasn't another wide receiver on the team that was consistently creating separation. Combine that with Joe Brady's play calling , which left a lot to be desired, and it was a bad game.

But to blatantly say that Jordan Love is a better quarterback than Josh Allen? I'm hoping that Ryans had a mental lapse and forgot who it was he went up against.
