Deion Sanders Gets Brutally Honest With Team After Kansas State Loss

The Colorado Buffaloes found themselves on the cusp of pulling off an upset on Saturday against the No. 18 Kansas State Wildcats but could not hold on to a late lead.

After trailing by as many as two touchdowns early in the third quarter, the Buffs erased the deficit and took a 28-24 lead with 3:12 remaining. The lead lasted all of 51 seconds as Kansas State charged down the field in three plays to score the eventual game-winner, which saw Avery Johnson connect with Jayce Brown for a 50-yard touchdown.

The Buffs got the ball back with one minute remaining but could not convert. The loss dropped Colorado to 4-2 on the year, but head coach Deion Sanders still had a positive yet honest message to his team at a recent practice, as seen in a recent social media video.

"I'm proud of Y'all," Sanders told the team."I wanted that W by all means but I'm proud of Y'all because you fought to the end. That shows resilience. That shows who you are, and we didn't play our best game defensively, did we?

"Didn't stop the run," Sanders said . "Gave up some explosion on the pass plays. Couldn't run the ball right? We got three receivers down...and we still had a chance to win the game...You should be proud of yourselves. Even though we didn't win, you should be proud of yourselves because we played one of our worst games and still had a chance to win it."

He isn't wrong, as the Buffs' defense had taken significant steps in the weeks prior but gave up 423 yards of total yards. Colorado's rushing attack also quickly became a non-factor, as there were just 10 running back carries for 21 yards.

However, considering the team was bitten by the injury bug with two-way star Travis Hunter being out for most of the game, they took one of the best teams in the country down to the wire. With how open the Big 12 is, there's a chance that Colorado and Kansas State could meet up again in the Big 12 title game if everything goes right.
