Buffalo Bills starting running back James Cook is listed as questionable to take the field for a primetime Monday Night Football matchup against the New York Jets in Week 6.

The Bills made a significant running back move amid this injury uncertainty, elevating Frank Gore Jr. from the practice squad for his first career NFL game.

Gore Jr. is the son of five-time NFL Pro Bowler Frank Gore, who suited up for the Bills in 2019.

The Bills announced the decision with an official statement on X.

"Elevated RB Frank Gore Jr. from the practice squad for tonight’s game at the NYJ," the team wrote.

Gore Jr. entered the 2024 NFL Draft following a four-year collegiate career as a star running back for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. He went undrafted, but signed with the Bills as an undrafted free agent.

Through his four seasons at the college level, Gore Jr. recorded 4,022 rushing yards and 26 rushing touchdowns. He earned First-Team All-Sun Belt honors in 2022.

The Bills' decision to elevate Gore Jr. could be an indication that Cook will be ruled out for Monday night's matchup against the Jets. Cook was a limited participant in practice on Saturday with the toe injury he's dealt with all week.

Bills running backs Ty Johnson and Ray Davis are healthy and active for Monday's primetime matchup.
