The National Weather Service in San Francisco has issued a Fire Weather Watch, effective Thursday through Saturday evening, due to a significant shift in weather patterns expected later this week. Following a period of seasonal to slightly above-average temperatures and mild conditions through midweek, an "inside slider" setup will bring offshore winds and dry conditions.

Short-term forecasts indicate quiet weather through Wednesday, with high temperatures around seasonal averages. A weak weather system may bring light drizzle to coastal areas on Tuesday night into Wednesday, but rainfall amounts are expected to be minimal, likely below 0.05 inches.

Starting Thursday, strong northerly winds will develop as a deep upper low moves into the Great Basin. These winds are projected to increase significantly, with gusts reaching 30-40 mph. Although relative humidity levels may not be critically low until Friday, the combination of drying conditions and gusty winds raises concerns for fire risks across the Bay Area and Central Coast. Residents are advised to remain vigilant as conditions may become favorable for rapid fire spread.
