The California native married Gossip Girl ’s Leighton Meester in 2014 – and they have enjoyed their marriage out of the public eye.

Adam and Leighton didn’t announce their marriage and kept their ceremony extremely private. Us Weekly broke the news on February 18, 2014, and Adam confirmed the nuptials when he was approached by a TooFab reporter days later.

“Hey man, is it true you really got married?" the paparazzi asked Adam, who simply replied, “Yeah.”

Adam’s role as Seth Cohen in The O.C. and Leighton’s role as Gossip Girl ’s Blair Waldorf kickstarted their romance years before they actually started dating. In 2021, Adam revealed that Josh Schwartz , who produced both shows, briefly introduced the pair while running in similar circles.

“But I had no idea whether she was a good person or not,” he admitted to Anna Farris on the “Unqualified” podcast. “And, in fact, kind of assumed she probably wasn’t for like the first handful of years that I didn’t know her, just because, I don’t know, Gossip Girl. One month prior, Adam revealed that he and the Country Strong star are “honest” with their kids and have “truthful conversations, for better or worse.”
