Game 2 of the NLCS on Monday afternoon started a whole lot better for the New York Mets than Game 1 of the series did. But that doesn’t exactly mean the Mets radio team was in a great mood early on in the game, particularly due to the overly loud P.A. system in Dodgers Stadium.

In the bottom of the first inning, longtime Mets radio play-by-play voice Howie Rose pointed out the volume of the P.A. system while also firing off a little jab to the Dodgers fans in attendance.

“Well, I hope you can hear us because we have to compete, not so much against the Dodgers crowd, but against their ridiculously-high level P.A. system here,” said Rose. “The crowd itself is only reasonably loud. There are much louder crowds. Philadelphia for example would be one. But the P.A. here…”

Rose mentioned it again during an ad-read for a local assisted living facility in the top of the second inning, joking that he “will be joining” the residents if the P.A. system gets any louder.

“I’ve seen first-hand what makes life at RiverSpring Living special. Visit RiverSpringLiving.org for more today. This P.A. gets any louder and I’ll be joining them there before you know it,” said Rose.

“Just lucky that there’s two (games) here and then back home where things are a little less brutally loud than they are in this building where we can recover our eardrums,” replied Keith Raad.

“Not if the Queens crew has anything to say about it,” added Rose. “Their own special brand of ear-slitting mayhem.”

“This is the only place… Usually in the inning break, you take your headset off,” said Raad. “I keep mine on to keep the sound down between innings here.”

Listeners at home could also quite clearly hear the Dodgers P.A. system on the Mets radio broadcast, taking to social media to air their own grievances on the matter.

As Keith Raad stated, they will luckily return to much more familiar conditions for Games 3 and 4 of the series at Citi Field. But at the very least, the series will be headed back to Los Angeles for at least one more game at Dodgers Stadium after the Dodgers Game 1 victory on Sunday.
