Dry Weather Continues in Northern California, Rain Expected North of Cape Mendocino

The National Weather Service Eureka has reported that dry weather with seasonable temperatures and coastal stratus will persist through tonight in Northern California. Coastal river valleys may experience surges of stratus and patchy fog, although coverage is expected to be less than in recent nights due to a front disrupting the shallow marine layer.

Temperatures in the interior will remain near seasonal averages, but a shift is on the horizon. From Tuesday through Thursday, periods of light rainfall are anticipated, particularly north of Cape Mendocino, while areas further south will likely stay dry. The light rain is forecast to arrive in two main waves: the first with a warm front on Tuesday night and the second with a cold front on Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Forecasts indicate that Del Norte County and northern Humboldt may receive around half an inch of rain, while Mendocino and Lake Counties are expected to remain much drier, with only a few hundredths of an inch possible. Additionally, strong and gusty northerly winds are expected to sweep through the region on Thursday following the passage of the cold front, leading to a potential for frost and freezing morning temperatures later in the week. Residents are advised to prepare for cooler conditions as the week progresses.
