The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has announced a notable change in weather conditions, with dry and warm weather expected to persist through midweek. However, a strong storm system is anticipated to arrive by Thursday, bringing gusty winds, cooler temperatures, and the potential for precipitation, particularly on Friday and Saturday.

According to the latest forecast, southwest winds will increase to 30-40 mph on Wednesday and Thursday, shifting to a cooler north wind by Friday. This transition will usher in sharply lower temperatures, with highs expected to range between 67 and 72 degrees, marking a return to more seasonal averages.

As the storm develops over the Great Basin, there is moderate to high confidence that northern Lincoln and northern Mohave Counties will experience the highest likelihood of precipitation, with a 30% to 50% chance of exceeding 0.50 inches. Snow levels are forecast to drop to 5,000 to 6,000 feet by Thursday night, with potential snow accumulations of up to 3 inches in the higher elevations of northeast Lincoln County.
