Chicago Bears Fortune Teller: Weeks 8-12

The Chicago Bears Fortune Teller was correct through the first six games, predicting that the Bears would be heading into their Week 7 bye with a 4-2 record. Though every specific prediction didn’t come true, the one that matters is about wins and losses. Let’s summon the magic powers again and predict the next five games of the season as the Bears begin their grueling ROS schedule after having a more favorable one early.

    Back-to-Back Away Games

Week 8 – @ Washington Commanders – Sun 10/27 · noon CDT – With two weeks to prepare for the red-hot Washington Commanders Offense, the Chicago Bears defense should be ready and healthy to take on the challenge. The Commanders will be coming off a home game versus the Carolina Panthers, which should be a victory for Washington.

Prediction: there is a little bye-week rust for the young Bears, but ultimately they play well after another slow start on offense. The Bears’ defense presents the toughest test for the Commanders’ offense of the season and the Bears pull off a road win 29-22.

Week 9 – @ Arizona Cardinals – Sun 11/03 · 3:05 PM CST – Daylight savings time ends in the wee hours of the morning on this day, falling back one hour – giving an extra hour of preparation for the Chicago Bears’ afternoon tilt in Glendale, AZ. The Cardinals are coming off a hard-fought road win over the Miami Dolphins.

The Cardinals have a bit of a hangover after their away victory, and the Chicago Bears’ momentum is too much for them to thwart off at home. The Cardinals still can’t put together back-to-back wins this season, and the Bears win their third straight game on the road 32-19.

    Three Home Game Stretch

Week 10 – Host New England Patriots – Sun 11/10 · Noon CST – The Patriots come to Soldier Field where the Bears have not lost yet this season. Though the Patriots beat the Tennessee Titans in Nashville a week prior, they will not win their second straight game on the road against the Chicago Bears.

Despite Patriots QB Drake Maye playing well, the elite Bears pass defense is too much for the rookie and he throws several interceptions. Caleb Williams and the Bears’ pass catchers turn it loose in this one, racking up their highest point total of the season with a 42-19 win at home.

Week 11 – Host Green Bay Packers – Sun 11/17 · Noon CST – In the Chicago Bears’ first division game of 2024, the Packers come to Chi-town off of a Week 10 bye. They are rested, healthy, and hungry after getting beat at Lambeau by the Lions in Week 9.

In Caleb Williams’ first taste of NFC North play, he gets exploited a bit by the solid Green Bay secondary, and the Packers’ ground game gets going early. In the first cold-weather game of the year, the Bears fall short for the first time at home in 2024. In a typical hard-hitting, NFC North battle, the Chicago Bears lose to the rival Packers 22-21.

Week 12 – Host Minnesota Vikings – Sun 11/24 · Noon CST – The Vikings arrive at Soldier Field riding a four-game winning streak after getting beat by the Detroit Lions at home in Week 7, coming off their bye. After playing several sub-par defenses in the Rams, Colts, Jags, and Titans – the Minnesota offense runs into a brick wall when they come to the Midway.

The Chicago Bears defense is angry and motivated to return to their winning ways. The Chicago Bears offense finds a chink in the armor of the stout Vikings’ defense and exploits matchups all afternoon en route to their first division win 29 – 17.

    Final Thoughts

Through the next five games of the season, the Chicago Bears go 4-1, improving their playoff resume with back-to-back road wins coming out of their week 7 bye, beating the Patriots at home, dropping their first game at home to the Green Bay Packers, and a signature victory at home over the division-rival Minnesota Vikings.

Sitting at 8-3 rolling into the Chicago Bears’ Week 13 matchup on Thursday Night Football in Detroit versus the Lions, the NFC North is still any team’s division to win. Will the Bears beat the Lions in their house on a short week to begin December 9-3? Tune in for the next edition of Chicago Bears Fortune Teller in week 13.
