Plenty of blame to go around as the Jets fall to the Bills on Monday Night

All of the attention going into this Monday Night game between the Jets and the Buffalo Bills was how the team would look without Robert Saleh , but also without their offensive coordinator , Nathaniel Hackett. And for all the pomp and circumstance, it was essentially more of the same.

The Jets once again lose a heartbreaker to a divisional foe by a final of 23-20. They are 5-21 since 2020 against the AFC East. Aaron Rodgers once again failed to throw for 300 yards. He ended with 296. They are now 2-4 on the season falling to third place in the division when they could have ended the day in first place. The Jets once again looked like an unstoppable force and an immovable object at the same time.

The Jets looked absolutely inept at times while looking like the team we were told about for two years at others. The Jets put together two beautiful drives to start the game with the first stalling out near the red zone and the other resulting in one of the nicest touchdown catches you’ll see from Garrett Wilson.

Add that with the Hail Mary and two field goals and it was all the points the Jets could put up for the 393 yards of offense. Just like the last two weeks, the Jets offense had the ball in their hands with a chance to win the game and just like the last two weeks, they failed.

Dan Orlovsky pointed it out this week , that there is no one main culprit to the Jets ineptitude. Breece Hall broke off a long run in the third quarter but can’t make Demar Hamlin miss the tackle in the open field and the Jets don’t score the touchdown.

Later in the quarter the Jets punch one in the end zone only to have it called back for a hold. Several drives were sidelined because of missed blocks leading to sacks or other penalties. The Jets had 11 penalties for 110 yards. At one point Joe Buck even had to laugh with the number of flags thrown in this game including one for “improper conversation with an official”.

I would love to crush the refs from all the flags thrown in this game. It was hard to watch the game because every play was simply an excuse to throw another flag. That being said, pretty much all of them were penalties. Holds were called when players were holding.

And then there was the missed kicks. Greg Zeurlein hit the uprights not once but twice in the second half. For a guy that was automatic last year, to miss kicks from 32 and 43 yards is unacceptable even in the windy conditions.

The Jets continue to shoot themselves in the foot time and time again. There is plenty of blame to go around. It will be interesting to see if everyone will be held accountable now that Saleh is gone.
