Aaron Rodgers shows true colors with Damar Hamlin gesture after New York Jets loss

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers spent time embracing Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin in a touching moment on the field before the legendary quarterback sent him a message on a signed jersey.

Hamlin is now a starting safety with the Bills and is having a solid season in 2024, after suffering a cardiac arrest on the field back in January 2023. Hamlin had to be revived on the field after his heart stopped beating before he was rushed to the University of Cincinnati hospital.

The condition, commotion cordis, is fatal 97 percent of the time if not treated within the first three minutes, with medical officials acting quickly to save his life before undergoing further treatment in hospital.

Miraculously, Hamlin returned to the game in 2023 after making a full recovery, before becoming the Bills' starter the following season - recording an interception against Trevor Lawrence earlier this year.

Rodgers, who seemingly had a relationship before with Hamlin after being pictured speaking with him after a game in the 2022 season, spent time with Hamlin after the Bills' win over the Jets before signing his jersey for him. The signed jersey read: “You’re an inspiration to me and millions! Much love, my brother."

Hamlin led the Bills in tackles against the Jets, with seven solo and one passes defended, while Rodgers had his best game of the season so far, despite the loss.

But Rodgers was extremely unhappy with one teammate in particular, directly criticizing Mike Williams for running the wrong route on a crucial third down.

When asked about what he saw on the play when he threw the ball, Rodgers stated that Williams had been supposed to have ran a go-route, but instead cut inside on an in-breaking route.

Rodgers told reporters: "We [were supposed to have] two verticals. Allen's [Lazard] down the seam, Mike's [Williams] down the red line [sideline go-route]. I'm looking at Allen, he puts his hand up, three guys go with him. So, I'm throwing a no-look to the red line. When I peek my eyes back there [Williams] is running an in-breaker. It's gotta be down the red line."

Sounds like the wide receivers need to learn their routes. Rogers is right.

Nothing like calling out your teammates. Maybe if you jetted off to Egypt during OTAs…
