Dallas Cowboys (3-3) owner Jerry Jones got into it with a radio host during his Tuesday appearance on 105.3 The Fan when asked about his lack of moves in the offseason.
On the heels of Sunday’s 47-9 Week 6 blowout defeat to the Detroit Lions (4-1), their third consecutive loss at home this season, Jones told the host it’s “not your job” to question him “over all the reasons that I did something and I’m sorry that I did it.”

“This is not your job,” Jones said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic . “Your job isn’t to let me go over all the reasons that I did something and I’m sorry that I did it. That’s not your job. I’ll get somebody else to ask these questions. I’m not kidding. You’re not going to figure it out what the team is doing right or wrong. If you are, or any five or 10 like you, you need to come to this [ NFL ] meeting I’m going to today with 32 teams here, you’re geniuses.
“You really think you’re gonna sit here with a microphone and tell me all of the things that I’ve done wrong without going over the rights? Listen, we both know we’re talking to a lot of great fans, a lot of great listeners. And I’m very sorry for what happened out there Sunday. I’m sick about what happened Sunday.
“… One of the stupidest things I’ve ever done, that anybody had ever analyzed was buy the Cowboys. It was an idiot that did that. So, idiot things can turn into good decisions. Smart things can turn into bad decisions. The facts are when you make one, you don’t really know if it’s going to be good or not at the time. You want some conversation this morning, you’re getting it.”

Jerry Jones calls latest loss to Lions ‘very concerning’
Jones notably declared the Cowboys as “all-in” on the 2024 season, looking to advance further in the playoffs than they have in the last three decades. Among the notable moves they made in the offseason, the Cowboys brought back veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott , signed linebacker Eric Kendricks and selected left tackle Tyler Guyton in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Elliott is playing backup to Rico Dowdle , Kendricks missed the game against Detroit with a calf/shoulder injury, while Guyton has graded out 97th among 115 offensive tackles this season, according to Pro Football Focus . The offense has averaged just 21.0 points per game, while the defense is a bottom-10 unit in the NFL.
Dating back to the 48-32 defeat to the Green Bay Packers (4-2) in last season’s NFC Wild Card Round, the Cowboys have surrendered 167 points in their last four home contests. That is the third most over a four-game span at home in NFL history, per Todd Archer of ESPN .
The latest loss was their biggest at home since Jones purchased the team in 1989. Dallas went 8-0 in the regular season inside its own stadium in 2023, but it’s clear playing in AT&T Stadium is no longer the advantage it once was.
Jones called the performance against Detroit “very concerning” and “humbling.”
“We’ve certainly got a bye week, but there’s nothing magic about a bye week,” Jones said after the game. “You can do some things differently [as far as] some of the things that bit us out there today. This was very concerning, and it was very humbling, and it was very — I felt bad because of all of our great fans, especially the ones in the stadium and certainly the ones that are all about the Cowboys.
