When the schedule was announced for Week 7 of the college football season, it was highly anticipated. Several high-profile matchups were included, and just about every one lived up to its billing.

One of those games was the No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels traveling to face the No. 13 LSU Tigers. The Rebels took a 17-7 lead in the first half, but the game turned just before halftime. After the Rebels scored a touchdown to go up 17-7, LSU drove down the field and kicked a field goal with 34 seconds left. Ole Miss then immediately fumbled on its first play of the next drive. LSU capitalized on this by kicking another field goal to make it 17-13 at halftime. This ultimately led to a 29-26 LSU win in overtime.

Paul Finebaum, on his show the "Paul Finebaum Show," recently expressed that the loss is becoming a defining moment in head coach Lane Kiffin's career. With this being the second loss of the season, Finebaum believes that Ole Miss is "out of mulligans" and must win all their remaining games to have a chance at making the College Football Playoff.

"He's out of mulligans," Finebaum said. "There is no room for error. The next loss finishes the dream. I can't predict the future, but I know Georgia is coming to town; they've got other games that are difficult. What's worse is that he had the game won."

The Rebels have never made the playoffs, but they were coming off an 11-2 season. They returned 16 players, which tied them for the second-most in the SEC. Ole Miss also had the No. 1 transfer portal class, marking the third straight year the Rebels have finished with a top-two portal class.

Finebaum believes this is Ole Miss's best team in over 50 years. However, after two losses, he wonders if Kiffin can ever win if he can't win with this team.

"Let me repeat for the final time: this is the best Ole Miss team since John Vaught was on the sidelines in the '60s," Finebaum said. "So, if Lane can't win with this talent, the question has to be asked: When will he or can he win?"

The Rebels are off this week before playing the Oklahoma Sooners at home next Saturday.
