Report Reveals True Details of Jets’ Robert Saleh Firing

The New York Jets lost their first game under interim coach Jeff Ulbrich after falling short against the Buffalo Bills, 23-20, on Monday.

The Jets absorbed their third straight defeat and dropped to 2-4.

Ubrich was tasked to call the shots after the firing of Robert Saleh last week. Saleh compiled a lowly 20-36 record in four seasons with the Jets.

According to ESPN's Rich Cimini , Jets boss Woody Johnson couldn't accept Saleh's "body of work" anymore. The front office also didn't trust him enough to end the Jets' 13-year postseason drought.

Cimini also revealed several eyebrow-raising details about how the 45-year-old Saleh was let go, including a very swift chat.

"(Jets) chairman Woody Johnson and his brother, vice chairman Christopher Johnson, walked into Saleh's first-floor office at 10:03 (on Tuesday) to terminate his employment," wrote Cimini. "That conversation took less than two minutes."

It was the first time since 1975 that the Jets gave a coach the pink slip in the middle of a campaign.

The Jets entered the season with renewed hope with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers returning to full health. They, however, struggled to find consistency early on.

Cimini reported that the Johnson brothers were "out for blood" during a meeting with Saleh after the team's 2-2 start.

Still, Saleh continued to do his job. He went to work on Tuesday and prepared for their game against the Bills. Little did he know that the axe would drop.

"About a minute later, the Johnsons showed up at his office to deliver the news," wrote Cimini. "Saleh requested the opportunity to address the team one last time, team sources said. He was denied."

Saleh started his career in the NFL in 2005 as a defensive intern with the Houston Texans. He had deputy coaching stints with the Seattle Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars and San Francisco 49ers before getting hired by the Jets in 2021 on a five-year deal.
