Whether or not you’re familiar with hit reality show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives , you’ve likely heard of the dirty soda trend that's been making the rounds on the internet. Boasting a similar texture to that of a melted ice cream float or Italian cream soda, a dirty soda is a Utah-born drink that combines soda , coffee creamer and flavored syrup.

Popular in Utah for more than a decade, dirty sodas have taken on a life of their own. They're so popular that CoffeeMate even got in on the trend, releasing their own creamer flavor meant to be paired with Dr. Pepper . Now, Taco Bell has entered the chat, thanks to some creative thinking by The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul .

How to Make the Dirty Baja Blast

“This might sound a little different, but I do add creamer,” Paul mentions while sharing her take on the trending beverage in a recent TikTok video . “It just makes it that much better.”

After ordering a Baja Blast from Taco Bell , the reality star pours vanilla creamer into the cup until its color changes from vibrant blue to a lighter, creamier shade. After mixing the two ingredients until well-incorporated, she takes a sip and exclaims, “So good. A vanilla Baja Blast.”

News of the Baja Blast upgrade quickly sent fans of the popular fast-food eatery running to their local for a taste. The original dirty soda is made with Diet Coke, heavy cream, coconut-flavored syrup and lime, but the Baja Blast version is decidedly simpler. In predictable online reaction fashion, viewers have been split down the middle with their opinions on the Taco Bell recreation.

“I just don’t think I can get with the creamer in the Baja, [I] just can’t,” one commenter wrote. “I’ve had the dirty Dr. Pepper but this, what?” another commenter added.

But there were others who were willing to give the combo a shot. “I feel like the coconut creamer would slap so hard in Baja,” one commenter noted. “Oooh yes, just like Red Bull with creamer,” someone else added.

One creative commenter also pointed out that Taco Bell has vanilla creamer, which they stated is stored in their freezers. “You could ask for it in your drink,” they suggested.

If Baja Blast isn’t your jam, you can still try making a dirty soda at home with a variety of other sodas. People typically use some sort of cola, but root beer, Dr. Pepper, Sprite or any other citrus-flavored soda will work just fine. Some people even like to use lemonade. Once you’ve settled on a soda, find a coffee creamer that you feel would pair nicely and add some optional flavored syrup and lime to top it off.
