    Mississippi Highway Patrol Chase Ends in Crash and Arrest for "Wanted" Person

    A highway chase in Jackson involving Mississippi Highway Patrol led to the crash of a vehicle as well as the arrest of a person listed as "wanted."

    A trooper conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 49 North near Ratliff Road in Hinds County on Monday, October 14th. The traffic stop was conducted shortly before 2:00, and involved a Nissan Altima.

    According to Mississippi Highway Patrol, upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle, the trooper became aware that the person sitting in the passenger seat was listed as a "wanted" individual. The passenger was asked to step out of the vehcile, at which point the driver jumped out of the vehicle and the passenger clibed into the driver's seat and sped away.

    The chase ended rather abruptly when the Nissan ran off the road, subsequently colliding with a cable barrier. The suspect, identified as Jody Tate, 33, of Bentoni, made an attempt at running away but was arrested.

    Tate was then taken to the Yazoo County Detention Center. He was charged with felony fleeing, and was also wanted on multiple warrants.
