How to Make This Halloween Spider Web Cupcakes Recipe

Ingredients needed to make this Halloween Spider Web Cupcakes Recipe

    • 1 box of chocolate cake mix, any brand + ingredients
    • 1 tub of white frosting
    • 1 tub of chocolate frosting
    • 24 cupcake liners
    • Toothpicks
    • Small sandwich baggy
    • Small plastic spiders and insects
    • Kitchen scissors

Now, yes, this is a very simple recipe if you are using a box cake mix - which is what I recommend. The hardest part is the decorating!

Directions for making this Halloween Spider Web Cupcakes Recipe

Line two 12 count cupcake tins with cupcake liners. Combine the cake mix ingredients according to package and bake according to package directions. Let the cupcakes cool.

Generously frost each cupcake with white frosting.

Once all the cupcakes are frosted scoop 1/2 cup of chocolate frosting into the small sandwich baggy and microwave for 10 seconds so it softens. Snip a small corner of the baggy and gently squeeze 3-4 chocolate rings on top of the cupcake.

Starting at the center ring, carefully drag a toothpick to the outer edge of the cupcake to resemble a spiders web all the way around the top of the cupcake.

Repeat this step with all of the cupcakes. It is actually pretty fun, and in an odd way, soothing as well. I bet the kids would LOVE to help decorate these cupcakes if you have little ones at home!

After your spider webs are complete, just place a small plastic spider or insect (fly) on top of the cupcakes. The flies look really cute because hello, flies get stuck in spider webs all of the time!

This recipe makes approximately 24 Spider Web Cupcakes.
