Vrana Bonds With Rescue Puppies, Thompson & Lindgren Get Their Dogs Together & Scenes From The Caps Canine Calendar Photoshoot

ARLINGTON, V.A. — Washington Capitals forward Jakub Vrana kept coming back to the playpen area at MedStar Capitals Iceplex during the team's Caps Canines Calendar photoshoot, immediately falling for a pair of mixed-breed puppies.

"Oh my god, I can't," Vrana, who brought his own dog, Rose, said while leaning over the cage and petting the dogs.

The 28-year-old winger had the chance to hold one of the puppies but chose not to, as he didn't want to wake him from his sleep with his sibling.

"He just looks so peaceful," Vrana said.

Vrana and his teammates were all about the animals on Tuesday, posing with their dogs and rescue puppies from Wolf Trap Animal Rescue as part of their annual Caps Canine Calendar shoot. All proceeds from the calendar, which comes out later this year, go to WTAR.

In addition to Vrana, Brandon Duhaime and Taylor Raddysh also became attached to the rescue puppies. Pierre-Luc Dubois brought his dog, and was also fostering a dog that he quickly chose to fully adopt.

Goaltenders Charlie Lindgren and Logan Thompson also got the chance to have their dogs meet for the first time, as Lindgren's dog, Riley, got along well with Levi, Luna and Libby, a foster dog who Thompson is strongly considering adopting.

For Lindgren, it meant a lot for him to take part in his third canine calendar shoot with Riley, who he calls his "best friend." Though Riley can get excited and a bit rowdy with all the noise, he "loves him to death," and the two had a great time seeing the available rescues and participating in the calendar shoot for a great cause.

"The puppies, they're always just the cutest things in the world, you just look at them and you want to take them all home," Lindgren said.
