Réal Andrews Says Goodbye to GH and Hello to an Exciting New Role!

The last time viewers saw Taggert on General Hospital was back in July 2023 when he checked up on Trina and portrayer Réal Andrews took to social media to let his fans know not to expect to see him in Port Charles again. “My chapter with General Hospital is over,” he said during an Instagram Live . “The writing’s been on the wall for a long time… and it’s been an amazing journey.

However, he remains grateful for his time in Port Charles, especially the powerful scenes he had when Taggert discovered he wasn’t Trina’s biological father. “What a dream for an actor to be able to go out with material like that,” Andrews marveled. “I mean, that’s every actor’s dream. I mean, it certainly was mine.”

Andrews joined the cast of GH back in December 1996 as Detective Marcus Taggert. During his career, the actor has also appeared on numerous other daytime dramas like Santa Barbara, As the World Turns, All My Children, and Days of Our Lives. He also reassured fans that while his time in Port Charles is over, he has some exciting news to share.

“Now I got offered what is the biggest role in my life,” Andrews declared happily. “It’s on the biggest and best network, the best director, producers, writers… in my opinion, in the industry. We’re in pre-production for it. I’m on an NDA, so I’m not able to talk about it right now, but it’s huge.”

The new CBS soap Beyond the Gates is currently in pre-production and has announced some casting already . Could Andrews be playing a major role on the upcoming daytime drama centered around a powerful African-American family living in a gated community?

“When I’m able to share with you guys, it’s gonna blow your mind,” he enthused. “It’s the best, biggest project of my life. Ever. Everything comes together and it happens for a reason. Everything I’ve done for my whole life is for this moment right here. It’s truly the most amazing role of my life. So we’re preparing for that right now and when it’s the right time, I’ll come on and let you know all about it. Stay tuned.”
