Miami Dolphins' matchups with divisional rival just took a major turn after latest NFL news

The Miami Dolphins sit in second place in the AFC East through six weeks.  That's a pretty incredible feat for Miami, considering the incredibly challenging start to the season they've had.

However, one team looking up at them - the New York Jets - just made a pretty big move to try to turn around what's been as disappointing a start to their 2024 season.

Per multiple outlets, the Jets have agreed to a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders for superstar WR Davante Adams.

The Jets surely had already been engaged in talks with the Raiders about a move before their game with the Bills on Monday Night Football, but a 23-20 loss perhaps cemented things for New York to pull the trigger and move forward.

The Jets' offense this season hasn't lived up to expectations, so they took a swing to try to change that.  The Jets are tied with the Jaguars and Rams for 23rd place in the NFL with 18.8 points per game.  Their passing game is middle of the league at 16th with 217.2 yards per game.

Now, Aaron Rodgers has two of his weapons from Green Bay back, and given how well he's managed to connect with Lazard in New York, it seems like he and his former #1 receiver could find a strong rapport again over the remainder of the season.

That will obviously pose a challenge for a Dolphins team that hasn't done well at overcoming them so far this season. Fortunately, the teams don't square off until December 8, which is a significant enough to perhaps allow safety Jevon Holland to recover from a broken hand that he's currently dealing with. It could also allow for the much-needed return of Bradley Chubb, whose timetable has not yet been determined.

Miami's been good against the Jets defensively over the last several years.  The Jets have broken the 20-point mark on the scoreboard just 3 times in the last 12 meetings.

However, the Jets just upped the ante, and we'll find out late in the year if the Dolphins can continue their defensive dominance over their rivals to the north once December rolls around.
