Bernese Mountain Dog's Ambitious Attempt to Score Hot Dog at Ball Game Is Priceless

Take me out to the ball game... only if there are dogs there, honestly. For some people, the sports part is the worst part of a sports game: the best parts are the pure vibes, the potential puppy sightings, and the bad-for-your-heart-but-good-for-your-feelings snacks.

Apparently, humans aren't the only ones who sometimes go to ball games just for the snacks. Recently, on his trip to the stadium to catch a baseball game, one Bernese Mountain Dog had his sights set only on a hotdog:

If I was going to a baseball game, I'd want to sit next to Heidi and Ollie. They could totally share my snacks!

The dog in this video is Ollie, a 2-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog. His older sister, Heidi, is 7, and she does a fantastic job of putting up with Ollie's severe Youngest Sibling Syndrome. He's adorable, but he's also a diva: he gets whatever he wants. When he's that cute, who can say no?

Unfortunately for him, his adventure to the ballpark didn't end in a tasty hotdog for him. While it's a travesty, truly, it's also probably for the best: hotdogs aren't good for dogs. Processed meats in general aren't great, and hotdogs in particular are pretty salty. Hopefully he got to have some other kind of treat!

Which Ballpark Eats Are Okay For Pups?

While ballpark eats are not necessarily fast food, they're pretty close, and they're special treats! Like fast food, they're often not good for anyone , including humans, but caution goes to the wind when there's a ballgame involved. When they're with you, it's only natural to want your dog to enjoy it, too.

If you take your pup out to the ballgame, it's okay to give them a little nibble of your favorite treats, as long as it's appropriately sized. For example, Ollie having a piece of a hotdog wouldn't hurt him (even if he wanted to inhale the entire thing). Avoid giving them anything spicy, garlicky, or overly salty or sweet.

Generally, these ballpark treats are okay to split with your dog:

1. Hotdogs (plain, no bun).
2. Chicken tenders (you might want to peel off the breading).
3. A piece of a plain burger.
4. Peeled, unsalted, dry-roasted peanuts.

Ballgames are excellent training opportunities for service dogs, not only because they're incredibly loud, but also because they're full of yummy things to eat and smell. It's a great way to teach them how to stay focused in distracting circumstances. If you want to bring your dog to the ballgame, most stadiums will allow you to bring your own treats (as long as they're specifically dog treats).

Not that that works for Ollie. No way. Get that man a hot dog at once!
