What Carbery & The Capitals Want To See From Jakub Vrana In His First Game In Over 3 Years For D.C.

The Washington Capitals know what Jakub Vrana can do.

That's exactly why the 28-year-old has returned home to the team that made him a first-round pick in 2014, and it's why he'll get the opportunity to play in his first game with the club in over three years as he slots in for Sonny Milano on Tuesday.

When it comes to his official homecoming, one that is sure to be emotional for Vrana, head coach Spencer Carbery has a handful of expectations.

"Speed, his shot, competitiveness on the puck and as much as he can," Carbery said of what he wants to see from the Czech winger.

Carbery also stressed the importance of his play in his own end and wants to see Vrana hustle on the backcheck and help the team when it comes to taking care of the puck.

"As much as he can, in the moments when he does get into some defensive situations, (I want him to) do a real good job and be reliable in those spots," Carbery said.

Ultimately, though, Carbery doesn't want to see Vrana try to do anything different or be something he's not; he just wants him to be himself — his vintage self — as much as he can be.

"(I want him to) find a few opportunities to show his elite offensive instincts, whether that's off the rush or whether that's in the offensive zone," Carbery said. "If he can accomplish that, it'll be a good night for him."
