“Sold More Miller Lite Than Miller Lite’s Best Salesman” – Cody Jinks On Setting Beer Sale Records At Honky Tonks Before He Got Sober

Before getting sober, Cody Jinks really lived that country outlaw life. The country star talked about all of that and more in a recent episode of the Whiskey Riff Raff podcast , which is brought to you by our friends at Browning. Cody Jinks sat down to talk about his recent release Backside of 30 , his plans for more new music soon, being a dad, and his forthcoming book, among other things. Obviously, a big part of Jink's story and journey as of late is the fact that he decided to give up drinking last year - two days after his 43rd birthday. Though it was a difficult thing to cut out of his life, he noticed changes almost immediately: "When I quit drinking, I lost about 15 pounds of what I guess looked like baby fat. I lost my beer belly and some out of my cheeks. People were asking, 'What are you doing?' and I'd say, 'I quit drinking.' It wasn't the cleanest of living, but I quit smoking cigarettes and quit drinking so at least I'm not giving myself as much of a head start as I had." As he sipped on his non-alcoholic beer that he brought to the interview, Jinks reflected on what his go-to beer used to be, and how his love for it helped him apparently set all kinds of beer sale records across the country: "I sold more Miller Lite than Miller Lite's best salesman ever thought about selling. That's what I drank. I still have and own records in most of the honky tonk bars and small venues in America for beer sales. We were just that band." Now that is a title that a modern day country music outlaw has to be proud of. Jinks is more importantly proud of his sobriety, but saying you own some honky tonk beer sale records is a legendary bragging right.
