College football rankings: There's a new No. 1 in the Bottom 25, UCLA joins race for Power Four's worst

Forget all the bouncing around in the AP Top 25 Poll this year; there's a new No. 1 in CBS Sports' Bottom 25. Kent State's long reign at the bottom of the barrel is finally over. It's sad to see the Golden Flashes dethroned -- a throne of the porcelain variety, for this article's purposes -- after sitting comfortably for almost a month.

So what challenger was strong enough to topple such a giant? Well, none other than Kennesaw State , which hasn't had a good time in its first year as an FBS program. The Owls aren't just 0-5 -- they have yet to play in a one-possession game. Yes, that includes an 11-point loss to FCS UT-Martin. A true contender if ever there was one.

And since this weekly ranking has become a poorly masked vehicle for the sole purpose of taking shots at Florida State : yes, the Seminoles are still comfortably in the Bottom 25. So are Mississippi State and Purdue . But they're joined by a new sorry Power Four conference team.

Everybody, say hello to UCLA . The Bruins will probably be sticking around for a while so get comfortable with them.

    Bottom 25 rankings

The illustrious Tom Fornelli created the formula that we still use to generate the Bottom 25, but he has since passed on his writing duties. To be clear, the rankings are based on a series of calculations, but the quips are entirely man-made.
