Top Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Must-Adds for Week 7

    By Michael Gallagher,

Six weeks into the NFL season and there are have been plenty of injuries to several key players around the NFL, leaving many fantasy owners scouring the waiver wire and scrambling to try and fill holes on their respective rosters.

Every week, Athlon Sports will have the five must-add players on you fantasy football waiver wire. Below is this week’s list.

    1. Josh Downs, WR, Indianapolis Colts (rostered in 49.2% of ESPN leagues)

After returning from a leg injury, Downs has been a breath of fresh air for the Colts offense. Despite playing in two fewer games than everyone else, Downs leads the team in catches (27) and is second in targets (35).

Downs has had nine or more targets and seven or more catches in each of his last three games. He’s still available in half of ESPN leagues, and if he is in yours, it would be a wise decision to add him while you still can. Downs has huge upside as a WR2 play for the rest of the season.

    2. Isaac Guerendo, RB, San Francisco 49ers (rostered in 1% of ESPN leagues)

Guerendo showed his game-breaking ability and speed in Thursday’s win over the Seattle Seahawks as he broke free for a 76-yarder late in the fourth quarter that helped ice the win. He finished with 10 carries, 99 yards and 9.9 fantasy points despite not playing much until the second half.

If Jordan Mason misses any time, or even is at less than 100%, Guerendo is a great add for a team needing running back depth. As we’ve seen, seemingly any RB can have success in head coach Kyle Shanahan’s system, and Guerendo has the kind of speed Mason lacks, which could help him break more long runs behind an excellent run-blocking offensive line.

    3. Tre Tucker, WR, Las Vegas Raiders (rostered in 19.5% of ESPN leagues)

With Davante Adams now in New York, it appears Tucker, who ranks third on the team in receptions (18) and targets (27), and fourth in yards (190), will get first crack at replacing him in the Raiders’ lineup behind Jakobi Meyers.

Tucker had a two-week stretch earlier in the season where he scored a combined 38 fantasy points while hauling in 12 catches, 137 yards and a touchdown in Weeks 3 and 4. If he sees that kind of catch volume (15 targets) with Aidan O’Connell moving forward as Vegas’ starting quarterback, Tucker could be one heck of a fantasy steal for someone right now.

    4. Michael Wilson, WR, Arizona Cardinals (rostered in 14.2% of ESPN leagues)

Marvin Harrison Jr. went down last week in Arizona’s 34-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers, and if he’s out for any period of time, Wilson is a guy fantasy players need to add. He had a solid rookie year in 2023 working a featured part of the team’s offense, totaling 38 catches, 58 targets, 565 yards and three touchdowns.

Wilson has four more receptions than Harrison despite seeing seven fewer targets, and if he starts to see more passes come his way, he could start producing as a borderline WR2, and he’s definitely worth a look as a flex option.

    5. Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers (rostered in 29.7% of ESPN leagues)

Doubs had a triumphant return to the lineup after serving a one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team last week, logging three catches on four targets for 49 yards and a touchdown.

The 24-year-old hasn’t been happy with his role in Green Bay’s offense, but after Sunday’s game, it seems the Packers could make him a more integral part of the pass game going forward. Doubs could have some upside as a flex play or as a WR2 in a pinch.
