Raiders' Legend Speaks On Davante Adams Trade

Well, the Davante Adams saga has finally come to an end. On Tuesday, the Las Vegas Raiders finally traded the star receiver , sending him to the New York Jets in exchange for a conditional third-round draft pick.

Shorty after the trade became public, legendary former Raiders receiver Tim Brown had some thoughts of his own, which he decided to share on the social media platform 'X' .

Clearly, Brown isn't happy with how the situation between Adams and the Raiders went down. He also alludes to a theory that's become popular recently, claiming that Adams might have wanted out of the organization once Derek Carr was released.

Carr, the quarterback for the Raiders at the time, was a large part of the reason Adams wanted to come to Las Vegas in the first place. Adams was a Raiders' fan growing up, but he repeatedly mentioned his desire to play with Carr, who was his quarterback in college at Fresno State.

The two spent a year together in Las Vegas during Josh McDaniels first and only full season as the Raiders head coach in 2022. Things obviously didn't work out, and Carr was released the next offseason. Things didn't get better in 2023, and they certainly haven't so far in 2024 , with the Raiders sporting a 2-4 record.

Alas, Adams is now a Jet, and the Raiders once again watch one of their star players leave from greener pastures (although the Jets don't seem much better than the Raiders at the moment).

Brown believes that things went downhill for Adams once Carr was traded, and he could be right. Adams probably wasn't too happy about that, but he stuck around for another year and a half to see if the team had a suitable upgrade in mind.

They clearly didn't, and now this feels like a move that works out for all parties.
