Jets Owner's Explanation for Davante Adams Trade Will Turn Heads

The New York Jets followed up their Week 6 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football by going out and trading for star wide receiver Davante Adams, reuniting him with his former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

While New York looked better than they had in previous weeks against Buffalo, they still suffered their fourth loss of the season, and the front office decided it was time to make a big move to bring Adams to town.

Adding Adams will cost the Jets some money and draft assets, but it was a move the team believed gave them the best chance of winning right now. However, folks were quick to take note of team owner Woody Johnson's explanation for the move, as he didn't seem too concerned about the potential future repercussions of this deal.

The Jets certainly built themselves to win around Rodgers and company, but to this point, that simply has not happened. Considering how much they have invested in winning with their 40-year quarterback, worrying about the future isn't a big concern for the team right now.

Johnson's comments in the wake of the team's move for Adams all but confirms that. This would fall in line with reports that New York's main holdup in swinging this deal was the money tied to Adams, with their loss to Buffalo finally convincing the team to pull the trigger.

Adams has been dealing with a hamstring injury as of late, but he put up some big numbers through three games (18 receptions, 209 yards, one touchdown), and figures to help an offense that features Rodgers, Breece Hall, and Garrett Wilson take a big step forward.

Assuming his hamstring has healed, Adams will look to make his debut with the Jets in Week 7 when they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football.
