    • Tony D’Angelo NXT North American Championship Celebration
    • Halloween Havoc Wheel returns
    • Nikkita Lyons vs. Lola Vice

    • NXT Championship #1 Contenders Triple Threat Match: Ethan Page vs. Wes Lee vs. Je’Von Evans

    WWE NXT Results:

    It’s a Celebration!

The new North American Champion, Tony D’Angelo , is sitting in the ring with the championship. D’Angelo puts over the former champion Oba Femi . D’Angelo admits that he baited Femi into thinking he was broken again. He seized the moment and won the championship. D’Angelo doesn’t believe this is over, but here’s to Oba Femi in the meantime. D’Angelo raises his glass of wine. Oba Femi’s music hits, and he stomps to the ring.

Femi says D’Angelo got him. It happened once, but it won’t happen again. The crowd cheers as Femi announces they will have a rematch at Halloween Havoc . Femi starts to leave but pauses to announce that D’Angelo’s family will not be at his side to help him. Femi walks up the ramp and spins the Halloween Havoc Wheel. It lands on Tables, Ladders, and Scares.

    Grade: B+

This was a great segment to set up the big gimmick match at the next NXT Special Event. This writer isn’t a fan of Tony D’Angelo holding the championship, but he had the right amount of sass for Oba Femi in this promo tonight. Also, the segment ended with the idea that Femi may get to obliterate D’Angelo with tables, ladders and… um… scares. So, this segment gets a boost just for that.

    Wren Sinclair vs. Stephanie Vaquer

Sinclair and Vaquer trade pin attempts. Vaquer rolls Sinclair into a modified bridge submission. Sinclair escapes and is locked in a rolling cattle mutilation. Vaquer escapes. Both women trade strikes. Vaquer catches a kick from Sinclair and lands a nasty dragon screw off the second rope. Vaquer hits a modifier, Ushigorshi, for the win. After the match, Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade attack Vaquer from behind. Giulia hits the ring and makes the save. Vaquer grabs a mic and challenges Jade and Perez to a tag match at Halloween Havoc.

    Winner- Stephanie Vaquer

    Grade: B

This is one of those cases where two women shine in a match, but it’s not a good thing. If the idea is to showcase Stephanie Vaquer, having Sinclair get in so much offense makes little sense. If you look beyond that, this was a fun match. Vaquer has an aura that dwarfs most of the roster, so it will be nice to see her feature more dominantly to match that. It’s almost as if they are afraid to give anyone the Asuka push.

Backstage, Ashante “Thee” Adonis gets into it with Shawn Spears. Both men have to be separated.

Gentleman’s Duel: Lexis King vs. Oro Mensah

King and Mensah trade pin attempts. Mensah almost lands a running boot, but the referee stops Mensah. Since King was down, Mensah would be disqualified if he struck him in the position. Mensah goes for another kick, but King drops down. The referee stops Mensah again. Mensah tries a springboard. King takes entirely too long to set up a crossbody off the second rope.

King starts to push Mensah off the ropes but realizes it would be a disqualification, so he pulls him back into the ring. Mensah misses his finish. Mensah escapes King’s finish, and both men trade pin attempts. King gets the three count after a prawn hold. After the match, King raises Mensah’s hand.

    Winner- Lexis King

    Grade: C

Eh… This match was what it was. This angle with King and Mensah is starting to drag a bit. It was entertaining when Mensah and King were doing their best Peter Griffin and the Chicken impression. Now? Not so much. Does this end with these two becoming partners and things going well, then Noam Dar returns, and all hell breaks loose? What do you think will happen? Let us know in the comments!

    Nikkita Lyons vs. Lola Vice

Lyons and Vice trade shots, each taking a moment to twerk in each other’s faces. Lyons is over it and lands two thunderous bodyslams. Lyons tosses Vice all over the ring. Vice locks in a choke. Lyons breaks it by slamming Vice to the mat. Vice and Lyons trade strikes and submission attempts. Jaida Parker runs down to ringside and distracts Vice. Vice kicks Parker off the apron. Lyons boots Vice out of the ring. As the referee is distracted, Parker obliterates Vice with Hypnotiq out on the floor. Lyons pins Vice after a Vader Bomb.

    Winner- Nikkita Lyons

    Grade: C+

Lyons looked good in her return. Instead of relying on the striking, Lyon utilizes the power game to dominate Vice in most of this match. Vice showed great fire during her comeback, and the run-in by Parker was a nice touch. The women’s division is on fire right now. So many options for matchups and fueds. This is a boom period, for sure.

    Riley Osborne vs. Ridge Holland

Osborne is all over Holland before the bell rings. Holland takes over and tosses Osborne all over the ring. Holland lays Osborne on the commentary desk. Osborne surprises Holland with a tornado DDT. Osborne goes up top. Holland cuts Osborne off and lands a suplex off the top. Dominator by Holland. Holland hits the 187 for the win. After the match, Holland attacks Osborne. Andre Chase hits the ring and makes the save.

    Winner- Ridge Holland

    Grade: C

This match was what it needed to be. Osborne starts hot because he’s fighting for his surrogate family in Chase U. Holland quickly cuts all that off and destroys Osborne. Holland vs. Osborne should have ended with Osborne as a stain on the mat, and it did. All is right in the world.

Ashante “Thee” Adonis vs. Brooks Jensen

During the match, Karmen Petrovic walks to ringside and stops Spears from getting involved. Petrovic pours rose pedals on the ring apron, to send Adonis a message. Adonis fires up and lands a flurry of offense. After a distraction from Spears, Jensen crotches Adonis on the top rope and hits a DDT for the win.

    Winner- Brooks Jensen

    Grade: C-

It’s cool to get everyone on the show, but this Shawn Spears/Brooks Jensen thing is as dull as a mayonnaise sandwich. Adonis trying to run game on the entire women’s locker room is fun, but it shouldn’t have any crossover with whatever this death angle is with Jensen and Spears.

NXT Championship #1 Contenders Triple Threat Match: Ethan Page vs. Wes Lee vs. Je’Von Evans

As soon as the match starts Evans superkicks Lee . Everyone trades pins. Page and Evans take Lee out and take turns battering each other. Lee breaks up a pin with a slingshot senton. Page cheers on as Lee and Evans trade shots. Both men realize what’s happening and level Page with kicks. Lee tries a tornado DDT off the commentary desk. Page reverses it into a suplex on the desk. Page plays to the crowd. Evans hits Page with a crossbody off the apron out of nowhere. Everyone is down. After the break, Evans has Lee down.

Evans goes up top. Page cuts Evans off and sets up the Ego’s Edge. Lee breaks that up. Page takes Evans and Lee down in a tower of doom spot, but Evans lands on his feet. Evans superkicks Lee and hits his finish. Page sneaks in and rolls Evans up for the win. After the match, Page demands NXT Champion Trick Williams come out so they can spin the wheel. Williams walks out on the stage. They spin the wheel and it lands on a Devil’s Playground match. Page attacks Williams from behind.

    Winner- Ethan Page

    Grade: B+

Fun match. The right person won here. To be clear, that’s not a knock on Wes Lee of Je’Von Evans; quite the contrary. They will both have their time with the NXT Championship, but Page and Williams have unfinished business. To fully launch the Whoop Dat Era, Williams needs to put an end to Page once and for all.

    WWE NXT Review:

Tonight was a mixed bag of good and bad. The main event stood out as the night match, as it featured some of the best spots of the night and had the most heat behind it coming into tonight. Lee and Evans are highlight reels waiting to happen, and they proved that tonight with their death-defying moves. Evans’ springboard crossbody while Page was on the commentary desk was sick. Stephanie Vaquer’s debut match was good, but it did little to show her as a dominant force.

Nikkita Lyons returned and added another capable talent to an increasingly stacked women’s division. The Halloween Havoc wheel was a missed opportunity here, as we only got to see it twice, and there was no real intrigue around the spins. If you’re
going to do this gimmick, you have to truly buy in and go all out with it. Next week is the go-home show for Halloween Havoc. Hopefully, they do a better job on the final hype show to hype the show.

    Grade: C+
