(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The West Loop Greyhound station won't be leaving just yet. The owner is extending the lease.

The company that owns the Greyhound station, FlixBus, said in an email statement, the location at 630 West Harrison Street in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood will remain as they finalize a month-to-month lease extension.

The bus operator said the decision is a temporary solution and they “remain actively engaged” with the city to secure a long-term home for the bus service.

Chicago 34th Ward Alderman Bill Conway, whose ward includes the bus station, said he's relieved that thousands of people will not be stranded this weekend. The lease was originally set to expire on Sunday.
