A memorial service for Ethel Kennedy, the wife of the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, will be held Wednesday in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the matriarch of the storied Massachusetts political family.

President Joe Biden and former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton will attend the celebration of her life held at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle, according to a statement from the Kennedy family.

A private funeral for Kennedy, who died Thursday at the age of 96 from complications of a stroke, was held Monday in Centerville, Massachusetts.

Wednesday’s event, which begins at 1 p.m., is closed to the public and will be attended by “Mrs. Kennedy’s family and friends,” according to the family. The service will be livestreamed.

Kennedy, who raised 11 children after her husband was assassinated in 1968, founded the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights and was a vocal advocate for social justice, environmental protection, gun control, and reducing poverty. She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2014.
