Anthony Edwards forming unexpectedly strong bond with new Wolves teammate

From the moment Julius Randle touched down in Minnesota, people wondered what his relationship with Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards would look like.

Randle is a rather ball dominant big man who lacks prowess on the defensive end. To many, this didn't seem like the type of player the aggressive, always hungry for more Edwards would get along with.

Instead, ESPN's Shams Charania reported the franchise cornerstone and his newest teammate are already forming a bond just a few weeks after the blockbuster trade.

"I love checking in on how these training camps are going, how players are interacting with each other, and what I've heard is Julius Randle has been going hard, playing, practicing, and doing bits and pieces more every single day," Charania shared during an NBA Today appearance.

"But the biggest thing that I checked in on is what is that dynamic been between Julius Randle and Anthony Edwards," Charania said. "And everything I hear, spoke to a few people today, they've been hitting it off behind the scenes, and I think how competitive, and we know the spirit Julius Randle has from a competitiveness standpoint... those two have hit it off already in training camp."

This is a major positive for the Wolves entering the regular season, as Minnesota traded one of Edwards' closest friends and longest-tenured teammates. The organization made clear the decision to move on from Karl-Anthony Towns was to extend the team's championship window with the 23-year-old at the helm.

Edwards forming a strong bond with one of his newest teammates is a strong step for him buying into the front office's future blueprint.
