Travis Scott felt extremely proud after he became the latest recipient of the "I Am Hip Hop Award."

On Tuesday night, October 15, the Houston native was in the building to accept his prestigious award at the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards inside Drai's Nightclub in Las Vegas. Actress and singer Teyana Taylor delivered a touching introduction to Scott before a video package played featuring kind words from DJ Khaled , Teezo Touchdown and others who praised the Grammy-nominated artist for his success over the years. After he accepted the award from singer Tyla , Scott thanked God, his family and children before he reminded other aspiring artists they can make it too.

"I come from this generation where they considered us nowhere near "Hip-Hop," quote-unquote," he said. "Every day, I try to push the sound and coming in as a producer, nobody knew what I was trying to do. But I always had this idea and I had this vision still to this day just to take the sound and take things just to the next level. I'm so glad that we made it this far."

"I just want to let everyone know where you come from doesn't really matter," he continued. "Just what goes on in your brain can take you to the next level and beyond. With true focus and true drive and with real surroundings, you can go wherever you want to go."

Scott was recognized for his exceptional talent, generational impact and rare creativity over the years. He joins a long list of rap legends who've been honored in the past like last year's winner Marley Marl , Trina , Master P , Lil' Kim , Lil Wayne and more. In addition, Scott is also up for six other awards including Song of the Year for "FE!N" and Album of the Year for Utopia.

Travis Scott's award couldn't have come at a better time. The Cactus Jack founder is set to close out the 4th leg of his "Circus Maximus Tour." The tour began last October and has traveled all around the world. After running through the U.S. and Europe earlier this year, Scott is currently making his way through South America until he finally wraps things up in New Zealand on October 31. As of June, the tour has garnered over $95.7 million from 686,000 attendees and counting. It's considered to be one of the highest-selling tours of the year.
