Many classes joined in the fun of Alumni Weekend and planned their own class reunions in conjunction with this popular event.Friday Pregame events included the 100th Football Season celebration, where almost 100 alumni football players paraded in front of the home stands representing each decade. The earliest PCHS Alumni Football players in attendance were Dick Stein, Class of 1947, and Virgil Wiechman, Class of 1952. Prior to the procession to the stadium, alumni football players enjoyed a reception at Bataan Memorial cafeteria.Port Clinton High School Alumni were in attendance at the football game, and the PCHS Alumni Band joined the fun of marching from the high school to the stadium. They joined the PCHS Marching Band, under the direction of Sean DeLong. The most recent grads from 2024 participated, as well as earliest grad, Jane Reynolds Howerth, Class of 1957. Alumni were also happy to see retired PCHS music faculty, Edna Hansen and Rod Miller, who joined in the Alumni Band introductions.On Saturday, the 1974 Wind Ensemble celebrated their 50th reunion with a brunch at PCHS. In March 1974, the PCHS Wind Ensemble traveled to the Tulip Time International Music Festival in Katwijk ann Zee, Holland. Under the Direction of Earl E. Warnke, the PCHS Wind Ensemble placed third. Assistant Band Director was David Randels. Memories were shared, and Hal and Diane (Warnke) Hawk donated beautiful tulips for the event. Port Clinton City Schools Food Service Department created a gorgeous grazing table with a nod to the breakfasts in Holland. Class of 1974 wind ensemble members Julie Minderman Rosiar, Tracy Behrman and Jane Held Smothers helped to plan the event.A large number of alumni took part in the tours of Port Clinton High School. They were very impressed by the renovations that have transformed their high school to include state-of-the-art design while remaining familiar. During the Saturday morning tours, the PCHS food service staff served samples of the iconic PCHS Peanut Butter Bars. The café in the Jack Nitz Academic Media Center was also open and serving current student favorites. PCHS Principal Gary Steyer and Assistant Principal Adam Hicks served as tour guides.Later that evening, hundreds of alumni joined in the fun of the various decade gatherings in downtown Port Clinton. The Port Clinton High School Alumni Association is grateful to the following that welcomed PCHS Alumni: Ala Carte After Hours, Bait House, Brick House, Clinton House, Gristmill, The Container Bar and VFW Post 2480. Following decade gatherings, all alumni gathered at The District Stage and were welcomed by Jan Gluth, PCHS Alumni Association and Port Clinton City Schools. Then retired teacher Vicky Gresh, Class of 1975, led everyone in singing the PCHS Alma Mater.
