Raiders’ Mark Davis Candid on Tom Brady's Role in Future Quarterback Decision

The same day the Las Vegas Raiders turned the page and moved on from star wide receiver Davante Adams, they also added a new voice to the mix for key decisions. Tom Brady has become a part owner of the Raiders, putting him in a unique situation.

While Brady will own five percent of the franchise official, per NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, his voice could play a prominent role in the team's future. This especially holds true regarding their upcoming decision on the quarterback position.

Raiders owner Mark Davis addressed not only Brady's potential impact on a future decision at quarterback but also that player's development, as The Washington Post's Mark Maske detailed.

"It’s just exciting. What I was going to say is we traded Davante Adams for Tom Brady," Davis joked. "Although Tom can’t play, I think he can help us select a quarterback in the future and potentially train him as well. So it’s a huge benefit for the organization.”

It's a sound assessment from Davis that has surely been in his head since this entire process involving Brady's ownership began. After all, it's not often that the greatest quarterback in NFL history gives input into a decision that pivotal to a franchise, let alone is impacted directly by how that move plays out.

Considering the Raiders' current state following the Adams trade to the New York Jets and the looming question mark at quarterback, Brady may be called upon sooner rather than later to offer his insight. Looking toward the 2025 NFL Draft, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders continues trending toward being the first quarterback selected and has been linked to the Raiders on numerous occasions.

How Brady feels about Sanders is worth monitoring, especially once the second half of the NFL season rolls around and the draft order begins to take shape.
