Browns Fans Are All Saying the Same Thing About NFL's Deshaun Watson Announcement

Many Cleveland Browns fans are welcoming the NFL's ongoing investigation into Deshaun Watson’s latest off-field issues, hoping it could lead to disciplinary action.

Watson has faced accusations from more than 20 women alleging sexual misconduct during massage appointments, leading to an 11-game suspension and a $5 million fine in 2022.

Although Watson settled those cases, a new lawsuit emerged in September, accusing the Browns quarterback of sexually assaulting a woman during a date in 2020. The NFL said they wouldn't place Watson on the commissioner's exempt list but would investigate the new claim.

The plaintiff's attorney, Tony Buzbee, announced on October 7 that a confidential settlement had been reached. Despite the settlement, the NFL is still looking into the issue.

“We’re continuing our review,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said on Tuesday at the league's fall meeting in Atlanta. “We take the personal conduct policy seriously. And so our people are working diligently.”

Goodell's announcement sparked a lively response from Browns fans.

"Best news I've heard all day. Suspend him indefinitely commish," one fan said . "Signed, a disgruntled Browns fan no longer interested in football for the season."

Watson has been the league’s most underwhelming starting quarterback this season. Through six games, he’s thrown for just 1,020 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions, earning an NFL-worst QBR of 21.7. Cleveland sits at 1-5 and made a bold move on Tuesday, trading away top receiver Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills.

"Roger needs to hurry up and suspend Watson indefinitely so the Browns are able to void the contract and actually win games," another said .

A different voice added: "I have spent exactly zero dollars on the Browns and the NFL since the trade for Watson . If Roger saves us, and then we can fire Berry for this trade and all the other stuff, I will prepay for the League Pass for the next 10 years if need be. Please Rog, you are our only hope."

Despite Watson’s underwhelming performances, the Browns remain committed to keeping him as the starter, sparking speculation that his fully guaranteed $230 million contract is dictating their decision.

Watson and the Browns will try to get back in the win column on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals in an important AFC North clash.
