Florida Yorkie Needs Loving Home After Owners Surrendered Him Due To Being Unable To Afford Vet Care

Many pet owners know that veterinary care can be pricey, but many budget for it with the knowledge that it is part of pet ownership. Unfortunately, one Florida Yorkie ended up with a rescue organization because his family couldn't afford his medical care. He's on the mend, is now adoptable, and is looking for a loving, patient home to ensure he remains healthy.

Meet Zippey: This little guy is a two-year-old Yorkie who was surrendered to a veterinarian by his former family because they could not afford his medical care. Thankfully, the vet called a rescue organization, VIP Rescue, who were able to get Zippey the help and care he needed.

Because of a previous medical condition, Zippey is working on regaining his bladder muscle strength, so he wears a "belly band" inside of the house, just in case. His foster family believes that he will soon be fully house-trained again. And he can do his business just fine outside.

Zippey loves to run and play and gets along well with other dogs and children, so he will need a fenced yard. He's current on all vaccinations and is microchipped, neutered, and current on heartworm and flea treatment. Because of the loving medical care he has received, he is well on his way to recovery and weighs in at sixteen pounds.

Zippey's new family will need to keep him on a special diet and commit to having him regularly groomed to ensure he remains healthy.

Zippey is currently located in Redington Beach, Florida. Those interested in Zippey can see his description page here and access VIP Rescue's adoption page here.

According to the American Kennel Club, Yorkies are affectionate, good with young children, are long-lived, and have somewhat hypoallergenic fur, as their fur is more like human hair than animal fur.

My friend had a Yorkie that I took care of. I'm 75 and my friend and the Yorkie are gone now, but this dog is not a Yorkie. They are very dark brown and tan. He may be a mix with some Yorkie in him. He is a cute dog though.
