Before wide receiver Davante Adams was traded to the New York Jets on Tuesday, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Cordarrelle Patterson was trying to recruit him on social media. But now that Adams is no longer an option for the Steelers, Patterson has moved on to a different wide receiver.

In the wake of Adams being traded to New York, news broke that the Jets are now open to trading veteran wide receiver Mike Williams, who was signed by the team in free agency during the offseason.

Williams, who is coming off back-to-back injury-shortened seasons, has reeled in 10 catches for 145 yards in 2024 and has always been a productive player when healthy. Unfortunately, staying on the field has been an issue, which is the first concern when talking about trading for Williams.

Even still, with the Steelers' current situation at wide receiver, he would no doubt be an upgrade for Pittsburgh as its No. 2 behind George Pickens. Knowing that, Patterson is making his pitch to bring Williams to Pittsburgh.

The Steelers should be aiming higher in their quest to find a wide receiver, but if all else fails, Williams would be a solid consolation prize. Pittsburgh can likely get him for cheap and his contract isn't too big to fit in. He's also only on a one-year deal, so the Steelers won't be attached to Williams long term if things go south.

Williams certainly won't be the best of the options likely to be available by the Nov. 5 deadline, but general manager Omar Khan can't choose to be picky. The Steelers need to do something, and Williams is better than nothing.

Patterson, why don't you just concentrate on getting back healthy??? Leave all the roster moves to GM and Tomlin, we have enough hurt players already. STEELERS NATION !!
