The Buffalo Bills came away with a hard-fought 23-20 victory over the New York Jets in a Monday night game defined by penalties and missed opportunities. ... oh, and by one huge play on defense.

Both teams struggled to find rhythm, combining for an NFL season-high 204 penalty yards, with each committing 11 penalties.

Josh Allen delivered an efficient performance, completing 19 of 25 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns. The Bills' offense added 150 rushing yards, keeping the Jets’ defense on its heels throughout the night. Despite facing constant setbacks due to penalties, Buffalo’s offense found a way to put points on the board when it mattered most.

Late in the fourth quarter, with the game tied 20-20, Buffalo mounted a crucial 11-play, 64-yard drive, capped by a 22-yard field goal from Tyler Bass to put the Bills ahead. The drive was extended by a roughing-the-passer penalty on the Jets, giving Buffalo key field position deep in Jets territory.

The game remained tense as the Jets had one final possession with under four minutes left.

With the Jets driving late in the fourth quarter, looking to either tie or win, Buffalo’s defense sealed the game when Taron Johnson came up with a critical interception at the two-minute warning. This pivotal play dashed New York’s hopes and allowed Buffalo to run out the clock. And as a response to the play (video above)? Bills fans are all saying the same thing about the injury return of Johnson: "Welcome back!''

Buffalo’s defense rose to the challenge , holding off a late surge by Aaron Rodgers, who finished with 296 yards, two touchdowns, and the game-ending interception. Despite giving up 393 total yards, Buffalo’s defense made the stops when needed, securing the win and improving their record to 5-2. Now the Bills turn their attention to the 1-4 Tennessee Titans for their week 7 matchup looking to build on the momentum of a divisional win.
