The aircraft manufacturer, Embraer, will build a maintenance, repair and overhaul center at Perot Field Alliance Airport. The Fort Worth City Council unanimously approved tax abatements for the plan Tuesday night.

"I am super excited to have Embraer coming to Fort Worth. They are the third largest aircraft manufacturer in the world," Councilman Alan Blaylock said as he moved to approve the incentives. "I think this maintenance facility will be a great addition to our community."

Embraer will move into an existing hangar at Perot Field next year and plans to build a second hangar by 2027. The company says it could spend up to $70 million on the project.

“We are excited to welcome Embraer, a global leader in aviation, to Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport and North Texas. This new facility will bring 250 high-quality jobs to Fort Worth and North Texas, further strengthening our region’s role as a key hub for aerospace innovation while ensuring that Embraer can efficiently support its expanding fleet of commercial jets in the U.S.  We are proud to be a part of this exciting new chapter in their growth," Hillwood Chief Executive Ross Perot Jr wrote in a statement.

According to paperwork filed with the Fort Worth City Council, Embraer expects to create 250 jobs with a minimum salary of $67,000.

Embraer says the hangars will increase the company's ability to service jets in the U.S. by 53%. Around the world, Embraer says it owns 12 service centers and has 80 other authorized centers.
