Known for his dedication to learning and improving, he has earned the respect of his peers and has become an influential figure within the department.ProclamationsMayor Pete Rust proclaimed November 1st as Extra Mile Day, a day to recognize the importance of volunteerism in Green River. He urged citizens to not only contribute personally but also to acknowledge the efforts of others who go above and beyond in their community involvement.PresentationsKayla McDonald from the Sweetwater Economic Development Coalition provided an update on local business efforts. She emphasized the coalition’s focus on business retention, marketing, and recruitment. The team has engaged with 16 businesses so far, identifying workforce training and housing as critical needs. The Coalition is planning a business resource fair and is partnering with Western Wyoming Community College to recruit an intern who will manage social media and produce a monthly newsletter.The Coalition is also working to highlight Sweetwater County on a national scale by collaborating with site selector magazines and gathering leads through the Wyoming Business Council.Citizen Requests/CommunicationsDuring the citizen comment period, Marty Carollo from Allwest Communications addressed the Council regarding the inactive PEG (Public, Educational, and Government) channel. Carollo proposed either restarting the 24/7 live feed or relieving Allwest of their financial obligation to the channel, which currently costs them $1,000 monthly. The council plans to vote on the matter in an upcoming meeting.Council Action ItemsThe council unanimously approved the encroachment stipulation letter with Colorado Interstate Natural Gas regarding gas pipelines at the new Wastewater Treatment Plant Replacement Facility. Additionally, the council rejected all bids for the Riverside Memorial Park Riverbank armoring project, as the costs exceeded the $200,000 budget. The city will continue seeking bids, possibly looking to Game &amp; Fish for assistance.Councilwoman Sherry Bushman reminded residents about the upcoming Trunk or Treat event, encouraging participation due to an expected large turnout. Mayor Pete Rust took a moment to recognize Neil Holcomb, who recently retired after 30 years of service as the City’s Street Supervisor.
