I found it to be unique and it was something that I thought I could do. It's a good home for Northern Michigan because the walls are 16 inches thick so you get protection from the weather," he said.Badgley started building the house in 1994 and completed enough to be able to move into the structure in 1996. I never had a lot of money so I wanted to build an inexpensive house," said Badgley."The home is constructed of round cedar logs and they range from two inches in diameter to 22 inches in diameter. I cut each log to 16 inches just like you would with firewood. Then I poured a concrete slab and drew a line from the center in a circle — a 40-foot radius. I started laying the logs sideways so when you look at the home you only see the end of the logs," he added.Badgley used a special mix of mortar and applied six inches on the outside of the log and six inches on the inside.
