We are just days away from running back Nick Chubb making his 2024 debut, one that we were not so sure we would ever get to see.

When Chubb went down with a serious knee injury last September, it took a breath of air out of the city of Cleveland. A fan-favorite went down and was a huge part of the team’s offense.

Chubb is not returning to circumstances that you would wish for . The Browns are 1-5 on the season and the offense is going through some historically bad things.

Still, Chubb is ready to get back, and when he does he has one mission.

“I can’t stop until I prove to everybody that I’m the undisputed best running back in this league, and I definitely can’t stop until we get the Browns back to the top of the AFC. It’s been too damn long,” Chubb said in a post on The Player’s Tribune that he shared Wednesday morning .

Chubb is in the final year of his deal, which means he will only have 11 for sure games with the Browns going forward. There was a possibility that he wouldn’t even have that, as he has no guaranteed money and the Browns could have cut him. Instead, the Browns never even thought about it and told Chubb’s agent as much.

“That really meant the world to me. Look, I know the deal. I had no guaranteed money left. The Browns had all the leverage,” Chubb explained. “They could’ve left me high and dry, like so many guys in this league. But they had my back. You all had my back.”

Chubb has rushed for 1,000 yards four of the five last years and he would have last season if it was not for the injury. While the Browns do need to be careful with how they ramp him up, Chubb sounds like a man on a mission returning the gridiron .
