"It was a bromance" - Steve Kerr on what it was like to coach LeBron James and Stephen Curry together

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and Golden State Warriors great Stephen Curry highlighted the USA men's basketball team during the 2024 Paris Olympics. After multiple years of constantly being on opposite ends and meeting in the NBA Finals four times, James and Curry jumped on the rare opportunity to team up.

According to Steve Kerr , who had the privilege of coaching both of them on Team USA, it was an unreal connection.

" It was a bromance. I think those guys, there's so much respect and has been for so long. Until you're playing on the same team, you won't know what that's like, and it clicked from day one. They remind me of each other but not in the way they play, but the way they prepare ," the coach said in his pre-game press conference ahead of the Warriors' preseason battle against the Lakers.

Steve was also delighted to finally be on the same side as James after game-planning against him for many years. The nine-time NBA champion (both as a coach and player) mentioned that the similarities he noticed between James and Curry are that they're naturally born leaders, which is why it took little time for the team to come together and follow their lead.

Aside from James' leadership skills, Kerr pointed out that Bron and Steph are also similar in how they approach their craft. This is the biggest reason why they're some of the greatest players of all time.

" LeBron is as professional as anybody I have ever been around in my life. His approach to everything. Every morning I would go to the gym to workout at 7 AM, and LeBron would be there with his trainer. Practice was at 10. There's a reason he's doing what he's doing at 39. The way he approaches practice, talks in shootaround, and film sessions, and engages his teammates and leads, it's very similar to Steph ," Kerr added.

Possibility of another Lebron and Steph partnership

James, who took home the MVP honors of the tournament, said that his Olympics stint with Curry was, in his own words, "everything and more." 'The King' was intrigued at the opportunity to team up with his nemesis in a competitive win-or-die type atmosphere. On the other hand, Steph said that joining up with the NBA's all-time leading scorer was a memory he'll cherish for the rest of his life.

Then, when asked whether or not James envisions himself as a teammate with Curry again, the Lakers forward didn't close the door on the potential opportunity.

" I have no idea ," LeBron said.

Only time will tell if LBJ and SC30 will ever team up again, but them doing so last summer was a legendary moment to witness not just for the duo but also basketball fans around the world.
