A state trooper was hospitalized this morning after his vehicle was hit during a traffic stop, Virginia State Police reported.

Trooper B. Nicholson was reportedly stopped on a closed shoulder of I-64 at the 236 mile marker in York County. He had just completed a traffic stop and returned to his patrol vehicle, a 2021 Ford Explorer, which was marked and had all the emergency equipment activated according to VSP.
