With the Boston Red Sox 2024 season behind us, they've already begun their offseason, which means players who need some medical clean-ups and repairs are starting to undergo those procedures.

On Wednesday, the Red Sox announced that designated hitter Masataka Yoshida had shoulder surgery to repair his right right shoulder labrum back on October 3.

Yoshida hinted that this was something that could happen at the end of the regular season after a physical, but now we officially know.

Boston's 31-year-old designated hitter was streaky in 2024, and through injuries, appeared in 102 games .280 with a .765 OPS, 10 home runs and 56 RBIs. In the back half of the season (75 games), he hit .303 with an .828 OPS, eight home runs and 44 RBIs.

The Red Sox were expected to try and move on from Yoshida this offseason, but this could certainly complicate things.
