Rick Neuheisel Predicts College Football Upset on Saturday

Much like Week 7, Week 8 in college football is packed with significant matchups that could lead to potential upsets, impacting conference standings and the College Football Playoff landscape.

Last week, former Pac-12 head coach and current CBS Sports analyst Rick Neuheisel accurately predicted that the Oregon Ducks would defeat the Ohio State Buckeyes in Eugene. On Tuesday, he returned with another bold upset forecast for this weekend's games.

During a discussion about the highly anticipated matchup between the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs and the No. 1 Texas Longhorns , who will meet in Austin, Neuheisel diverged from some of his colleagues, who favored the unbeaten Longhorns. He boldly predicted that the Bulldogs would hand Texas its first loss of the season on home turf.

"I think Georgia has found something in Arian Smith and Dillon Bell. I think Carson Beck has two guys he can go to; they were unbelievable in that second half as a desperate team, they were unbelievable against Mississippi State," Neuheisel said. "I think they can challenge Texas's secondary, which has really not been challenged... I think that makes the game and Georgia's got the DNA to win these types of games, I'm taking the Dawgs."

This is a significant game for both teams. If Georgia loses, they would be firmly on the outside looking in for the SEC Championship and would need to play near-perfect football for the rest of the season to secure their spot in the College Football Playoffs, especially after already losing to Alabama this year.

For Texas, this matchup presents a challenge they haven’t faced this season. It will reveal how they measure up against the nation's elite as the season enters its crucial months, where every game carries immense importance.
