Potential Mike Williams trade destination on Jets' upcoming schedule

This week's visit to Acrisure Stadium may wind up being a one-way trip for New York Jets ' wide receiver Mike Williams.

The Jets are seemingly ready to move on from Williams after six weeks of underwhelming production.

Noticeably failing to establish a rapport with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the veteran pass-catcher has secured 10 of 17 targets for 145 yards this season. Williams was the intended target during separate late-game interceptions in Gang Green's two most-recent losses. Rodgers publicly revealed that the receiver improperly ran his route with the Jets looking to erase a 23-20 deficit against the Buffalo Bills .

Shortly after it became known that New York agreed to acquire Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders , multiple reports suggested that team brass has already placed Williams onto the trade block.

Set to host the Jets in a Sunday Night Football special on October 20, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been apparently pursuing wide receiver additions over the past couple of months. Pittsburgh was reportedly close to a deal for San Francisco 49ers ' WR1 Brandon Aiyuk, but that fell through, and the interest supposedly turned to Adams.

With a group of pedestrian pass-catchers headlined by George Pickens, the Steelers could likely benefit from adding a player with Williams's ability.

Pittsburgh radio host Andrew Fillipponi predicts that Williams will be coming to town but not as a member of the Jets' roster.

"Mike Williams will be wearing black & gold by the end of the week. Mark my word," said the 93.7 The Fan personality in an X post on Tuesday .

New York signed Williams to a one-year $10 million guaranteed contract this past March, but his value drops significantly upon Adams's arrival .
