The New England Patriots haven't been playing the best on the field, and they're being talked about just as much for what's happening away from it.

Early Wednesday morning, Patriots defensive lineman Christian Barmore took to social media to share his experience from an interaction with the Providence police.

According to police paperwork obtained by Boston 25 News, two Providence police officers noticed a Grey Jeep Grand Cherokee with tinted windows and a license plate cover over a temporary license plate.

Officers reportedly pulled Barmore over and noted that he was behaving aggressively when asked for his paperwork. Upon being asked about the expired registration, Barmore allegedly asked for a ticket, and when he was told the car was being told he allegedly attempted to conceal an item under the seat.

Police say they recovered an ash cup with a blunt and multiple tubes of marijuana. Barmore left the scene in another car.

The Providence police released the following statement:

“The Providence Police Department takes all concerns from the public very seriously and with the utmost professionalism. In this particular case, the vehicle in question was found to be unregistered during a routine traffic stop, which is a violation of the law. The officer acted in full compliance with department protocols and state regulations. We understand that any encounter with law enforcement can be stressful, however, it’s important to note that officers are required to enforce all applicable laws, including those related to vehicle registration. We will continue to review the situation to ensure that proper procedures were followed and to maintain transparency with the public.”

Barmore has been on injured reserve this season, as he was diagnosed with blood clots early in training camp. While it's far from a guarantee that he'll play again this year, head coach Jerod Mayo did say he felt good about Barmore's chances last week.
