Steve Kerr Reveals 1-Word Report on Warriors' Victory Over Lakers

During the Golden State Warriors' 2022 NBA Finals run, Andrew Wiggins' athleticism provided the necessary athleticism to combat the Boston Celtics' duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. However, over the past two seasons, Wiggins hasn't done much to repeat such success until Golden State's head coach, Steve Kerr, noticed what he did vs. the Los Angeles Lakers in Tuesday's preseason match.

I think the key is JK [Jonathan Kuminga] and Wiggs [Wiggins] running the floor. I mean, it puts a lot of pressure on teams," Kerr said during postgame media availability. And so they set a good tone tonight. The way they just got downhill with or without the ball, they were gone.  And so I really like the way both those guys played and the impact they can make with their athleticism and force.

In the Warriors' 111-97 victory over the LeBron James-led Lakers, Wiggins and Kuminga combined for 22 points. Although they failed to register a 3-point conversion, going 0-6, the paint wasn't safe with Wiggins running downhill.

Two of the three field goals Wiggins scored occurred in transition, one with Kuminga as the table setter. While Golden State would like Wiggins to finish from behind the 3-point line, applying pressure on defenses and keeping opposing players on their heels opens up looks for the perimeter.

Golden State ranked 27th in the NBA in terms of points scored in fast break sequences. Considering Stephen Curry's presence, the 3-point shots will come. However, for Kerr to unlock the Warriors' offense, they need more dimensions.

Wiggins and Kuminga are the most athletic players on the roster, so they must pressure opposing defenses. Tuesday's victory over the Lakers is a decent start.
